Control Contaminant Laden Dust Before it Takes Controls
Let’s start by stating the obvious…
Dust is everywhere. You’ve seen it when it hits the light just right (and also in varying sheet thicknesses on the bookshelf)… It’s literally everywhere. No matter how often you run the vacuum or break out the feather duster, you’ll never get it all. But, good on you for trying.

All health organizations will tell you that it is a known fact that inhaled dust particles smaller than ten microns will become a permanent fixture in your lungs, and, at that size or smaller can never be expelled. Larger particles (> 10 µm) are generally of less concern because they usually do not enter the lungs, although they can still irritate the eyes, nose, and throat…”
To continue, particles of concern can be grouped into two main categories:
- Coarse particles (also known as PM10-2.5): particles with diameters generally larger than 2.5 µm and smaller than, or equal to, 10 µm in diameter.
- Fine particles (also known as PM2.5): particles generally 2.5 µm in diameter or smaller.
Dust can contain materials such as:
- Heavy metals
